Compliance overview
The lines TrueKnee is built around.
What a TrueKnee surgeon can say to a partner, a compliance officer or a patient about how the Voyage fee sits beside covered care. Written as commitments, not legal advice.
Where the review stands.
Healthcare counsel is reviewing the Voyage contents, the participation agreement and the refund terms. Until that review is complete, the commitments below describe how the program is built and will be offered; they are not a legal opinion, and your own counsel’s advice comes first.
The surgery is the same for every patient
A patient who proceeds with TrueKnee has the TrueKnee surgery: the technique, the 3D plan and the implant your judgment chooses. The Voyage is the experience around it, never a better operation, and nothing about the surgery depends on the fee.
Medicare patients pay only for what Medicare does not cover
The Office of Inspector General has said since 2004 that a physician may not charge Medicare patients for services Medicare already covers. The Voyage is written as the non-covered amenities around the surgery: the Navigator, the plan explained and the patient’s own copy, the recovery program, help arranging travel. Surgical planning, the CT scan, the operation and covered follow-up visits stay outside it.
No patient is denied or delayed care for declining
A patient who does not proceed keeps their appointment, their options and their record. No faster access is sold to anyone.
The surgeon never quotes the price
The surgeon recommends care, explains the plan and introduces the Navigator by name. The Navigator explains the Voyage, what it includes and does not, the refund and the price, once and in writing, the same way to every eligible patient. Every offer is counted, including every no.
TrueKnee’s fee is a flat license, not a share of anything
TrueKnee is paid a fixed amount per enrolled patient and a one-time participation fee. Never a percentage of a professional fee, never a charge per referral, never a paid territory or ranking.
Surgeons pay TrueKnee, so TrueKnee never sends them patients
Patients choose a surgeon from the public directory, which lists every TrueKnee surgeon on published criteria. TrueKnee does not route, refer or steer anyone, and nothing on this site offers patients, volume or promotion as a reason to join.
The refund is written down before any payment
Any cancellation before the first incision returns the full $3,000. There is no refund after surgery and no promise about any result.
Every patient-facing word is reviewed by counsel before launch
Consents, texts, the price line and the refund line are versioned and quoted verbatim to counsel. Counsel review is in progress; this page says so until it is complete.
Outcomes are published, never typed
TrueKnee publishes its own program results: every consecutive patient counted, missing data shown, nothing shown below five patients, never ranked. The TrueKnee Institute publishes only peer-reviewed research.
What the $3,000 never buys
- The operation or the implant.
- The CT scan or the surgical plan: the plan is part of every TrueKnee surgery.
- Covered follow-up visits.
- Faster access to covered care.
- A promise of any particular result.

Talk it through.
Bring your compliance questions to the conversation. A TrueKnee surgeon, not a salesperson, answers them.
